Guy Fawkes Night
Remember, remember
the fifth of November
gunpowder treason and plot.
We see no reason
why gunpowder treason
should ever be forgot!
In 1605 a man called Guy Fawkes was part of a plan to blow up the English parliament, but he was discovered and didn't succeed. To celebrate this day, people usually go to a fireworks display and burn a model of Guy Fawkes on a big fire!
Students of years 4, 5 and 6 have dealt with this topic through watching videos and doing different activities in class. With it they have had the opportunity to learn about other aspects of British history and culture and they could compare this celebration with other Spanish traditions too.
